This Muharram 2023|1445 Sacred Roots will host gatherings in honour of Imam Husayn son of 'Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, with Syed Hadi Rizvi.

We will gather in-person at Sacred Roots—1758 W. 21st Place—and will broadcast virtually via ZOOM

Series Theme: Renewing Our Primordial Covenant

Join us on Ashura Day - the 10th of Muharram - to memorialize the life and martyrdom of Imam Husayn b. Ali and his disciples on the plain of Karbala.

Guest Scholar

Syed M. Hadi is an independent researcher in Islamic Studies, with a particular focus on the Shi’i tradition. He carried out his Hawzah studies between 2007-2017. On returning from Qom, Iran, he taught for a further 2 years at the Hawzah of England until 2019.

S. Hadi has a special interest in the intellectual history and critical analysis of Shia textual disciplines, as well as comparative philosophies and epistemology.

He currently lives in North Carolina with his family.
