Seeking the Divine - Reflections on the Prayers of the Prophet’s Family - The Prayer of Yearning for God’s Forgiveness
Join us to explore the prayers of Imam Sajjad, Ali the son of Imam Husayn. The prayers (ad’iya, plural of du’a) in the al-Sahifah al-Sajjadiyyah are expressions of submission to the Creator. As one scholar puts it:
“Here we have one of the greatest spiritual luminaries of Islam so overawed by the sense of God's goodness, mercy, and majesty as to express his utter nothingness before the Creator…In the Sahifa we see Islamic spirituality - or that dimension of the religion of Islam which deals with the practical and lived reality of the personal relationship between man and God - expressed in the most universal of languages, that of the concrete and intimate yearning of the soul for completion and perfection.”
We will read the prayer in translation, briefly analyze the main themes, and then circle-up for reflective conversation.

The Seven Stages of Spiritual Development Workshop with Shaykh Abdulrahman Cherri - Part 2
Join us for a second 2-hour workshop with Shaykh Abdulrahman Cherri: The Seven Stages of Spiritual Development.
Description
This course takes you on a profound journey within, guiding you through the sacred stations towards God, as illuminated by the timeless wisdom of the Qur'an and the traditions of Islamic spirituality. God says:
"O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet Him." (Qur’an, 84:6)
To God we belong, and to Him we shall return. In the quiet spaces of life, when the noise of the world fades, we often find ourselves facing the deepest parts of our being. We begin to uncover hidden virtues, long-forgotten dreams, and even the shadows of vices we may have ignored. This is a time of introspection, a divine invitation to embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Through this course, we will explore the Islamic understanding of the self, known as ‘Islamic Moral Psychology,’ and begin to chart our course toward a more profound awareness of our inner realities. We will delve into the metaphysical truths of the soul, its journey through different realms of existence, and its ultimate quest for the knowledge of the Absolute.
Our souls, though bound by the physical, yearn for the immaterial and the eternal. Yet, like Adam’s descent into the material world, we often forget our origins and the true nature of our being. We become entangled in the illusions of this world, forgetting that our ultimate purpose is to know and draw nearer to God.
This course will guide you through the stages of the soul’s development—from the base desires that pull us down to the divine attributes that elevate us. You will learn to recognize the battles within, the subtle deceptions of the self, and the spiritual remedies that bring about inner peace and contentment. As we move through the various states of the soul—commanding, blaming, inspired, and finally, at peace—you will gain the tools to purify your intentions, overcome spiritual obstacles, and experience the sweetness of faith.
Join us as we traverse the sacred path of self-knowledge, where each step brings us closer to the Divine. This journey is not just about reaching God but about awakening to the reality that God has always been with us, in every breath and every heartbeat. Let this course be a light in your path, helping you to navigate the inner landscapes of your soul, and discover the radiant beauty of the One who created you.
