Muslim Unity is key for building a strong Muslim community. In light of that our next Biblio Collective series will be on A Memorandum on Intrafaith Harmony in Islam by Shaykh Haydar Hubbullah. We will have limited copies for purchase at Sacred Roots. You can purchase the book here if you are not in Chicago.
We invite people from all Muslim denominations to join us in exploring this short text.
The first half of the text serves as a primer to the foundational beliefs of the Ja’fari school. It briefly presents the distinguishing theological and legal perspectives and touches on some of the sources for those views.
The second half examines some of the psychological and intellectual hurdles to developing unity and proposes ways to minimize the negative spirit of sectarianism.
The book is an invitation for reflection, study, and brotherhood-through-knowledge and good character. These are the fundamentals of religiosity and fraternity with those with whom you have intellectual disagreements.
We will meet in-person at Sacred Roots with a hybrid set-up - so our Zoom Participants across the country can join and engage virtually.
Schedule - Meeting I | Pages 39-52
6:30 - Communal Prayer
7:00-8:30 - Discussion on pages 39-52 & Refreshments
Book Description:
This humble book is an open memorandum to all the Muslims of the world, whether Shīʿa, Sunni, Ibāḍi, Ṣūfi, etc. It is a memorandum of love and affection, of brotherhood and amity, of truth and sincerity; a memorandum of laying the facts bare and exposing the truth. It is one of critiquing oneself and others, turning a new page, and defining the school of the Ahl al-Bayt (as) and their followers (the Twelver Shīʿa school). We aim to reveal in it the thoughts, investigation, responsibilities, aspirations, visions, concepts, and inferences that are held by the adherents of this faction. We will briefly summarize their beliefs, jurisprudence, methodologies, relationship with others, viewpoints, achievements, and historical responsibility.
