Join us for a community conversation on one of the key issues in our society: food.

The way we think about and engage with food in relation to self-worth, culture, and community reflects some of our most basic values and assumptions. And the way we act in regard to food and the politics of food has the potential to transform our lives and the lives of others.

Our Guests:

Nosheen Hayat is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist who received her Master's in Public Health from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and did clinical training at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center. She currently runs Hayat Nutrition (hayatnutritionandwellness.com) which is aimed at helping women with hypothyroidism and PCOS live healthier and happier lives.

Shamar Hemphill previously spent 15 years as Deputy Director at the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN). He helped to launch a corner store campaign that was dealing with nutrition inequity, bad business practices and policy intervention. Since then, the campaign evolved into IMAN opening its own Go Green Community Fresh Market and Food Wellness Center in Englewood. (edited)
