The 9th day of the Islamic lunar month named Dhu al-Hijjah (the month of Hajj - the essential Islamic pilgrimage) marks the Day of ‘Arafah. The Day of ‘Arafah is a day of blessings and it is highly recommended to spend the day praying to God. It is a requirement for the Hajj to stay in ‘Arafat, a plain east of Makkah, which is mentioned in the Qur’an
Q. 2:198
It is no fault in you, that you should seek bounty from your Lord; but when you press on from Arafat, then remember God at the Holy Waymark, and remember Him as He has guided you, though formerly you were gone astray.
Join us on Monday, July 19th at 7:00 pm CDT to mark this day with an English reading of the translation of Imam Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abideen’s Prayer for the Day of ‘Arafah It is a prayer of great spiritual insight and moral lessons for us to reflect on as we end out the year of 1442 and prepare for Eid al-Aḍḥā the next day.
“O God,
this is the Day of 'Arafa,
a day which You made noble, gave honour, and magnified.
Within it You spread Your mercy,
showed kindness through Your pardon,
and made plentiful Your giving,
and by it You have been bounteous toward Your servants.”
