Join us for a series of reflections on Imam ʿAlī b. Ḥusayn Zayn al-ʿĀbidīn’s Treatise on Rights, entitled Risālat al-Ḥuqūq in Arabic. The treatise is the “text of a letter on the duties that one has towards God, religion, the ruler, oneself, as well as other human beings.”
We will explore contemporary spiritual and cultural implications of the teachings of the great-grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
This is the night of the 21st of Ramadan, one of the likely Nights of Ordainment (Qadr). We will mark the martyrdom of Imam ʿAlī during our lecture. After dinner we will spend an hour in communal worship as a launching pad for your night’s vigil at home.
